I've found a couple sources on line for the 1860's iteration of Vanity Fair, but although the magazine's cartoonists got a fair amount of mileage out of depicting Abraham Lincoln in a tam-o-shanter and kilt, I have not yet come across that reported cartoon of him borrowing Mary Todd Lincoln's dress as a disguise.
I'll keep you apprised of my search; in the meantime, and speaking of disguises, here's a snippet from this week's upcoming cartoon:
